today I played with wool for five hours while my husband played with the new site and figured our a few things for me.

Tomorrow I’ll be working on the site and from there I expect I’ll be able to get help from Larry-the-dude-who-built-it. Look for activity ’soon’.

What? I’m an artist. I am creative with time. Blame it on the Rift.

Hi all!

There may be website issues over the weekend.  I’m going to take the new site live (God, I hope so!) either over the weekend or Monday. If it doesn’t happen, I’ll post with an update as to why and a new time line.  The new site will have a ripple effect.  The blog URL will be changing — actually, it’s entirely possible that all the URLs will, since I’m moving chrisowen.net from a sub domain of prettymuses.com to its own domain.  If you’d saved, for example, the sneak peeks page as: http://www.chrisowen.net/sneakpeeks.html you’ll be okay. If you have the actual URL of http://chrisowen.prettymuses.com/sneakpeeks.html it’s going to go away.

If you’ve linked the blog anywhere, you might want to check it AFTER I post that things are all good to go. You may always keep up with the mirror over on LiveJournal: http://chris-owen.livejournal.com/  At one point I’d wanted to do away with mirroring, but I seem to be followed in both places, so mirroring will stay.

Also, I’m going to be shifting my e-mail over to chrisowen.net @ gmail.com  since the other one is an incredible spam attractor and the gmail filters are more robust than the multiple rules I’ve set up in Mail. This change will be gradual and I’ll have an auto-reply set up for a few weeks as I take care of that.

In other news, I finished a Single Shot, a Spice it Up, and the novel, Acquired Tastes.  Acquired Tastes is going through a beta process but it’s the last thing I have to submit before I take a very long break. :-) I’m SO happy with the stories, and so very, very looking forward to a rest.

omg the last chaser will be out later today!!  ….. I’ll likely post to pimp that next week, when it’s time to show off the new site! :D

Have a good weekend!

I just went no-mail on all my lists, and I’m setting e-mails to an out of office message for a few days.

I’m off on a wee vacation with my family and will be back next Thursday.  I will not have internet access at all, and for a good chunk of the time will not have cell access, either. Totally out of touch.  I may die.

Have a good weekend, all!

Here it is! Cheek to Cheek is out as a Screwdriver novel.

Set in the same world as 911, Cheek to Cheek follows firefighters Mallory and Will and the ups and downs of their relationship from their first anonymous meeting at a quiet gay bar to discovering that they’re about to be working at the same fire station when Will is sent in to replace injured firefighter Drew, and beyond.

Their plans of a quiet, easy, no-pressure physical relationship will be put to the test as they work together, as ex-lovers and family put their two cents in as well. Can Mallory and Will find more than just the physical together? Find out today!

There’s a very nice review from Jane Davitt, too. :D

Also! If you read that and want more Mal and Will, the sequel to Cheek to Cheek has begun running on Torquere’s Turn of the Screw serial service. Turn the Other Cheek just started this week, so go and check that out, too!

Updated my website, that is. *blush*

It’s all up to date with links to where to buy AND I made sample pages of every story, including Cheek to Cheek which isn’t even out yet AND Turn the Other Cheek which hasn’t even come back to me from the editor! Go and see, have a poke around!

In other news, I wrote a LOT in March, some in April and am woefully behind in May. There’s a Spice it Up! story coming out in July, keep an eye out. I picked garlic. *wiggles eyebrows* GARLIC, people.

Romantic Times was lovely, but I’m taking next year off. It’s so expensive, and I’m not sure if it’s doing me any good at this point. Next year is very busy for me personally so I think a year off will do me well. We’ll see how that goes — goodness knows I change my mind so often I don’t make plans for lunch tomorrow.

You KNOW I love Jordan Castillo Price’s PsyCops books, right?  If you don’t, I do. To a truly ridiculous degree — I am fangirl, hear me squee!

If you haven’t read ‘em, if you have and want to start gathering them in a different format, if you want to pimp your friends into the happy place of Good Writing and Intriguing, Multi-Layered Characters…  TODAY IS THE DAY!

It’s Jordan’s Birthday and her gift to us is one day of FREE!  She’s opened up Among the Living, the first book in the series, for all day today.  That’s right. A book for free.

Go here: http://jcpbooks.com/  Get it, read it, tell your friends!

Happy Birthday, Jordan!  And Happy Unbirthday to us.

This is Chris. This is Chris being SCARY productive. Seriously.

If you’re following on Twitter you know I’m putting out a massive amount of words. As of today, 37 thousand words since March 2, actually. This is not because I suddenly got inspired to write A Great Book (although, modestly, I am. <– okay, not modest. But it’s a good romance and I’m having fun and I hope you all will, too, when it comes out.) but because January and February went by and then suddenly it was March and I had four weeks to write a novel.

smile smile smile

Let me break it down for you.

In January and February I wrote the remaining Chasers in Used, Rare and Custom Jobs. I wrote three short stories and I poked at Acquired Tastes (more about that later). With those more or less off my desktop (I do need to polish a chaser and one of the shorts before I submit them) and a vacation to visit Jodi had, I buckled down to write Turn the Other Cheek, the sequel to Cheek to Cheek.

So for two weeks I’ve been dealing with cranky firemen. Oy. I’m liking the story, really. It’s Mal and Will, so there’s hotness and there’s two strong opinions and there’s family issues. I’ve found some interesting things about Mal’s family, and I’m excited about how the story is going to conclude. Canada, how I love thee. <3 There’s a really hot scene in Toronto. Yes, yes. I know.

ANYWAY. Moving on. Other news — I’ll be at Romantic Times in Orlando, April 22-26. Come find me! I spent a week making 1150 key chains. My fingers are still slightly swollen. I’ll be spending April and May working on a story for the Spice it Up! line at Torquere (I have Garlic. Does this mean I’ll do what I’ve always said I wouldn’t??? Hmmmmm??? Does it???!!?), a Single Shot for their anniversary in September (cowboys, natch). Then all that will be left (under contract and/or promised) will be finishing

Acquired Tastes. The Novel. The book I’ve fallen so far in love with that I’m terrified of messing it up. That happens sometimes. I’ve learned that it’s best to ride it out, keep writing, and for the love of all things publishable get three beta readers who you (being me) really, really trust. When they crit it, cry and take a bath and deal. Seriously. For the story to be the best it can be, there will need to be a bit of distance between it and my heart. BUT HOLY COW I love this story! So, Carrigan, Addison, Steph — you have not been forgotten! You are being written in and the title is set, as promised in the rules of my contest! Hopefully I’ll be ready to send out the release forms before my August vacation, yo. Only seven months late.

smile smile smile

Okay, that’s it. Back to work.

OH! A question, for those of you who have read 911 recently (I frankly don’t have time to check on a fact and need help!) Spoilers and question below…..

I signed up. *hangs head* Here’s the thing, though. I signed up because I love the way I can post one line on facebook, just throw up an update. So I’ll do that on Twitter for writing stuff.

But I have no plans to follow anyone. So it’s really a very selfish thing.

Knowing THAT, if you’d like to follow me, I’m Chris_Owen there. You need the underscore or you’ll get someone else.  Oh, here. Have a link:  http://twitter.com/chris_owen

Interesting thing to share: A round table discussion over at Marisa’s blog on Romance Novel TV. Marisa very bravely decided to open up a discussion about m/m fiction at the site, hoping to introduce the genre to a more traditional romance reading audience.

I was honoured to be included along with Ally Blue, Josh Lanyon, Jet Mykles, JL Langley, KA Mitchell, Jamie Craig, and LB Gregg in what became six blog posts. The questions were done via e-mail in a round robin style and some very interesting things came up, both among us as we we wrote our answers and passed them along and then over the last two days in the comments.

Go take a look — it was a ton of fun.

A 911 Valentine
By Chris Owen
(posted on my blogs and at Torquere Social. Will be on my website hopefully before Valentine’s Day. meep.)

911 Valentine
By Chris Owen

The letters and notes started showing up near the end of January.

Drew found the first one in the shirt pocket of his uniform when he reached for the roll of breath mints he habitually carried. The card was a red heart cut from construction paper, the fold line in the middle calling to mind the valentines he’d made in elementary school. One side of the card was plain and unmarked, but the other, the inside of the folded heart, had “I love you” written in blocky letters of silver glitter glue.

Grinning, he stuck it on the inside of the door of his locker. Secret admirers were kind of cool, even if he did know it had to be from one of two people.
